FIX: Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to this computer?

This error message may occur in any Office application for no reason, and the user must click “Yes” to continue running the program, otherwise it will quit and not execute.

This guide will show you how to get rid of the User Account Control warning notice.

Check your Compatibility tab

Open your File Explorer.

Navigate to the following location:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\office16

Locate WINWORD.exe and right-click it.

Choose Properties.

On the Compatibility tab, select Change settings for all users.

Uncheck “Run this program in compatibility mode for” checkbox.

Uncheck the “Run this program as an administrator” checkbox.

Click Apply and OK to save your changes.

When you launch any Office application, the error warning “Do you wish to let the following software to make modifications to this computer?” should be gone.
