How to Disable the Lock Screen in Windows 10

Here is a workaround that allows you to disable the Lock Screen feature in Windows 10 Anniversary Update. If you’re using a desktop or laptop, there’s no need to have a lock screen every time your computer boots or wakes from sleep, lets disable this unnecessary feature.

Method 1:

Use Group Policy Editor to Disable the Lock Screen

To disable the the lock screen using the Group Policy Editor generally applies to Windows 10 Professional version. If you have installed any other version of Win 10 please scroll down to checkout the second method.

1. Press Windows key+X and click on Run.


2. Then type in gpedit.msc and press Ok.


3. Now expand Computer configuration->Administrative Templates->Control Panel and then Presonalization.


4. Then double click on Do not display the lock screen.


5. Then just click on Enabled and click Apply then Ok and reboot your pc to see the changes.


Method 2:

Use Registry Editor to Disable the Lock Screen

Some version of Windows 10 does not include the Group Policy Editor, you can use the Registry Editor instead to disable the lock screen.

1. Open the registry editor. press the Windows Key + R, then type regedit in the Run window and click OK. Click Yes to the UAC if prompted.

3. Create a new registry key called Personalization if one doesn’t already exist. To create the key, in the right pane, right click and select Key from the context menu. Then rename the key to “Personalization.”


4. Navigate the newly created Personalization key.


5. Right click in the right pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.


6. Name the new value “NoLockScreen” (without quotes).


7. Set NoLockScreen Value data to 1 by double clicking on it, and entering a “1” in the Value data field and click OK.


Next time you boot the lock screen will be gone.
