Enable Dark Mode with a Keyboard Shortcut – Windows 11

Both Windows 10 and Windows 11 deliver two separate color modes to manage the colors for the operating system. Windows 11 features three options – Dark, Light, and Custom. The dark mode allows the dark theme, whereas the light mode is the regular one.

If you often swap between the dark and light modes in Windows 11, you would probably wonder about having a more comfortable way to switch color modes.

Assigning a keyboard shortcut to turn dark mode on and off, you need to use a third-party app called Easy Dark Mode. Easy Dark Mode is a portable software that doesn’t need any installation. It adjusts in the system tray and allows you to switch between dark & light themes with just a click.

This article will guide you through creating a hotkey to enable/disable dark mode in Windows 11. Let’s check out.

Enable Dark Mode with a Keyboard Shortcut

First, all you need is to download the Easy Dark Mode app on your PC. Once downloaded, run the installation process.

Double-click the Easy Dark Mode app icon to launch the app. Now, to set a keyboard shortcut, right-click on the Easy dark mode icon and select the Hotkey option.

Select your desired letter on the drop-down and check the ALT box (recommended) on the Hotkey Settings dialog. For instance, here, I have chosen ALT+S. Once done, click Ok.

Now, whenever you like to switch between light and dark themes on Windows 11, you simply need to press the ALT+S button on your keyboard.

That’s it! You are all set. This is how you can enable or disable the Dark mode quickly in Windows 11.
