This is a feature that was introduced by Microsoft that enables files on your device to be encrypted to protect the confidential data from the intruders who try to steal data from your computer or try to misuse it. It is the best way to keep it safe, so only you can have all access to your data.

Encryption in Windows 10 is easy as it can be which we are going to show you in following methods.

Use Encrypted File Service

Using Third Party Encryption Tool

Let’s begin with the first method of encryption which is “use Encrypted File Service” as Encrypted File Service is a built-in encryption tool and surely is the fastest way to protect your data from the attackers. This tool is easy to use that you can have your files protected within a couple of minutes and clicks. Follow the below steps to encrypt your desired folder or file.

Place cursor on the folder or file which you want to encrypt and right click to go to the folder’s Properties.

Click on Advanced, available at below of “General Tab”.

A window will appear having options under “Compress and Encrypt Attribute” section.

Click on “Encrypt Content to Secure Data”.

Click OK and Close the Properties window. Then apply changes to desired file or folder when prompted.

That’s it. Your folder/file is encrypted now.

Note: All text will be shown in green color after encryption. Backup your encryption key on the other device so you would be able to access it, in case you forget it.

Now we will learn how to encrypt single file or folder using third party encryption tool as there are various software’s available online if you are not satisfied with above encryption tool. A Right software is a better choice than EFS (Encrypted File Services) because it is more secure as possible.

There is free online software available for use which are VeraCrypt, TrueCrypt , nd AxCrypt but paid software is highly recommended due to more reliability. Encrpt4All Pro is a paid software available. It is a reliable and powerful encryption tool which offers free trials before buying the full version of it.
