How to File Share in Windows Server 2012 R2 Using Server Manager

File share in windows server can be done by following the simple method as file share can provide the informal and feasible method for the administrator to create file shares. In this article, we will learn how to create new files and how to configure advanced option in it.

Let’s begin with the procedure, I will use windows server 2012 as an example so log on to the windows server using your credentials and open the server manager.

On the left side of windows server double click on “File and storage services” to open it.

Once file and storage windows console is opened click on “shares” on the right side of a column.

On the right of shares click on “Tasks” and select “New Shares”.

It will open up new share wizard.

In select profile window select the 2nd option “SMB Share -Advanced”

Press “Next” and it will bring up “Share Location” window and remember to select “Share by Volume” option under share location.

Since I have got only drive so I have selected the required, press “Next” and write a name in share name window to proceed to next step. I have named it “Test”.

If you want to change settings in “Configure Share settings” click on your required options or else press “Next”.

In permission window you can change the permissions according to your need and after changing it press “Next”.

Press “Next” after selecting your required options in management properties.

In apply quota window select your required option and press “Next”

Finally, in confirmation window it is asking to create the file share.

Click Create and it will show results if all results are showing complete status than you have successfully created the share.

Now login to any client system, go to the network and you will be able to share from remote devices using the remote share path configured using the wizard.
