How to Fix Ntoskrnl.exe BSOD – Windows 11

On Windows 11, one such BSOD that you may encounter is an ntoskrnl.exe BSOD. The error indicates that there is an issue with the kernel executable for the Windows operating system (ntoskrnl.exe).

Windows will not start without this file. If you encounter this issue, the following instructions will assist you in resolving an ntoskrnl.exe blue screen of death on Windows 11.

Check Your RAM

Search Windows Memory Diagnostic on your Windows search bar.

Click the Restart now and check for problems (recommended) option.

Your computer will restart and boot into the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool, which will scan for memory problems.

If the scan returns any issues, try reseating and exchanging RAM sticks in a desktop computer, or reseating memory in a laptop if it is available.

Run SFC and DISM Scans

Right-click the Start button and select Windows Terminal (Admin).

Type the following command in the terminal and hit Enter.
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Do a system file check by running the following command:
sfc /scannow

Check for Malware

Type windows security on the Windows search bar.

Select Virus & threat protection and click Quick scan.

You may also click on Scan options and select Full scan or Microsoft Defender Offline scan.

Clean Boot or Safe Mode

Type msconfig in the Windows search bar.

Go to the Services tab.

Select Hide all Microsoft services and then click Disable all.

After that, go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager.

Go to the Startup tab in Task Manager and disable all startup apps.

Close Task Manager then click on Apply and OK on the System Configuration.

Restart your PC when it prompts you to do so.
