How to Change the Language Settings on your iPhone or iPad

Whether your device’s language settings are wrong or you are learning a new language, changing the Language is a breeze.

There are several other reasons why you may want to change your device’s language, but that doesn’t matter.

What matters is that you change it easily and at your convenience.

Change the Language Settings

To change your iPhone or iPad’s language, follow these steps.

Firstly, launch the Settings App on your Home Screen.

Then, Tap General and choose “Language & Region” from the options.

Next, tap “[Device] Language” and select your preferred language from the list. You can also type the Language into the search box at the top to hasten the process.

After selecting the Language, tap “Change to [language]” to effect the change.

Your device may restart/reboot after selecting the option.

Adding an alternative language to your iPhone or iPad

Besides changing your iPhone or iPad’s language completely, you can add a second language to which you can easily switch. Here’s how.

Navigate your Home Screen and open the Settings App.

Then, scroll down and select General. Next, tap Language & Region.

Next, select “Other languages,” then choose your preferred Language.

Afterward, tap “Keep [your current language]” in the pop-up menu.

Your iPhone will probably reboot after selecting this option. Now, you can easily select your preferred language when you want to change your device’s Language.

Changing Languages Per App

After adding a new language (s), you can now change languages on an App basis. That is, you can change the Language displayed in specific apps without changing your device’s Language.

Here’s how.

Firstly, launch the Settings App, then scroll down and select the App.

Then, tap Language under preferred languages and choose your preferred language.

That’s all! The language settings of that App will be changed automatically.
