How to Download and Install FTDI Drivers on Windows 11

Future Technology Device International Limited, which goes by the name FTDI, is a Scottish company that makes semiconductor devices and focuses on USB technology. It makes devices and cables that turn old communication standards, like RS-232, into more modern USB signals.

The company offers a lot of legacy support for modern computers so that the machines from the past don’t lose their files. You’ll need to download a driver from FTDI’s database in order to have that support.

This guide will explain how to download FTSI drivers on Windows 11.

How to download & install FTDI drivers on Windows

Update via Device Manager

Type Device Manager on your Windows search bar and select Open.

Click on Ports (COM & LPT) to expand it.

Right-click on the available device and select Update driver.

Click Search automatically for drivers.

Follow any on-screen instructions.

Update via the manufacturer’s official website

Go to FTDI driver download center.

Click on the download link for Windows 11 as shown in the image below.

This file is a package that has all of the FTDI VCP and D2XX drivers in it. This method is the best choice if you don’t want to download drivers file by file, especially if you have more than one FTDI device.

Find the downloaded file and double-click it to start the installation.

Click Extract in the installation wizard.

Follow other instruction until Finish.

Once you’ve downloaded the FTDI drivers, there’s nothing else you need to do. These drivers are meant to make sure that your FTDI device works well. In this case, there’s nothing else you need to do.
