How to Enable Disappearing Messages on WhatsApp

WhatsApp has introduced the Disappearing Messages feature for all its users. When you activate this feature, messages you send will be automatically deleted after seven days. This feature applies to both groups and individual chats, but the admin can enable or disable this feature for group chats. Once the messages disappear after seven days, the reply messages will not disappear from the chatbox.

Moreover, this feature does not apply to the forwarded messages. The images, video, and audio files will also be deleted after seven days if this feature is turned on. However, if the auto-download option for the media files is on, they will still be available on your device.

The disappearing messages feature is available for all platforms (iOS, Android, etc.) users. Here is a quick guide on how you can enable this feature on Android devices. The same directions work with iOS.

Open WhatsApp.

Locate the desired contact and tap to open the chat.

Tap the contact name on the top of the chat.

Scroll down to locate the ‘Disappearing messages’ option. Tab this option.

Tap on Continue and then tap the “On” option.

That is it! You can activate this feature in a group chat by clicking on the group’s name. You have to be the group admin to activate this feature for the group. You may disable this feature whenever you want by following the same path.

The same process applies to WhatsApp Business.
