How to fix Desktop Icons Not Showing in Windows 11

The problem of Windows 11 desktop icons not appearing might be brought on by particular settings, a damaged icon cache, or damaged system files. Using the original, functional system files as a backup, this software fixes typical computer issues.

Show desktop icons context menu option

Right click on your desktop and select View.

Select Show desktop icons.

Press Win + R to open the Run Command.

Type in desk.cpl ,,5

Select all the checkboxes.

Click Apply then press OK to show the selected desktop icons.

Rebuild the icon cache

Click on the File Explorer in your taskbar.

Click View on the command bar.

Select Show and Click the Hidden items option.

Navigate the following location: C:\Users\ <user folder> \ AppData \Local

Look for “IconCache.db” and Delete it.

Restart your PC.

Restart File Explorer

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to Open the Task Manager

On the Processes bar, Look for “Windows Explorer”

Right click on it and Select Restart.

Run a SFC scan

Type cmd in your Windows search bar and select Run as Administrator.

Type sfc/scannow and press Enter.

Restart your PC.
