How to Forget a Saved Wi-Fi Network on Windows 11

Sometimes, troubleshooting a Wi-Fi connection in Windows 11 can help clear or delete saved Wi-Fi network settings and start fresh.

Or sometimes, you don’t need your PC to connect to a particular hotspot anymore. Luckily, Windows 11 let you “forget” a Wi-Fi network in just a few clicks. Here’s how.

Forget a Saved Network in Quick Settings

It’s straightforward to forget a Wi-Fi network through the Quick Settings menu—if that network is nearby. First, all you need is to click the Quick Settings button located in the right corner of the Windows taskbar.

When the Quick Settings menu opens, please navigate to the Wi-Fi control button and click the sideways-facing arrow inside it.

The Quick Settings menu will show a list of nearby Wi-Fi networks, including the one you’re presently connected to (if any) at the top of the list.

Locate the Wi-Fi network whose profile you want to remove and right-click it. A small menu will appear; select “Forget.”

Windows 11 will forget the Wi-Fi network, clearing its stored settings for that individual access point.

If it had formerly been the default Wi-Fi access point, your Windows 11 PC will no longer automatically endeavor to connect to it.

If you need to reconnect to that particular network, you just forgot, click the “Connect” button below the Wi-Fi network’s name in the list, enter the password, and you’ll be back online.

Forget a Saved Network in Windows Settings

You can also remove a saved Wi-Fi network in the Windows 11 Settings app.

Windows Settings will let you forget a Wi-Fi network even if you’re not within range of it at the moment.

To do so, launch Windows Settings (press Windows+i), then head to Network & Internet > Wi-Fi and click “Manage Known Networks.”

In the “Manage Known Networks” menu, click the Wi-Fi network you want to extract and click the “Forget” button beside it.

Windows will remove the network, and you’re set. Close Settings, and you can keep using your Windows 11 PC as usual.
