How to Install Wireshark on your Ubuntu Machine
While working in an enterprise environment, you may come across a situation where you need to monitor the network traffic. Sometimes the captured network traffic or sometimes real-time traffic. There are many tools that can help to achieve this task.
The most popular tool is Wireshark. In this article, I will explain how we can install Wireshark on the Linux machine.
Install Wireshark on your Ubuntu Machine
Log on to your Linux machine. In the application menu, look for Terminal.
Click to open it.
It is recommended to use third-party power purchase agreements to use Wireshark. To add Wireshark in repository use the following command. You need to enter the Admin password of your Linux machine.
Sudo add-apt-repository ppa:wireshark-dev/stable
Once done, update the repository using the below command.
Sudo apt update
Now you need to make sure your Ubuntu is up to date. To update ubuntu, run the below command.
sudo apt upgrade -y
This process can take time as it will download and install the updates for your Linux OS.
Once done, run the following command to install the Wireshark on your Linux.
Sudo apt install Wireshark
This will start the Wireshark installation on your machine. Once completed, go to your application menu and launch Wireshark.
