How to Lock Windows 10 PC Remotely

RECOMMENDED: Transfer Windows and Installed Data to Another Hard Drive

As we all know we have business critical as well as personal data on our computers and laptops and it is very important to ensure that our devices remain locked and data remain safe.

If you have forgotten to lock your Windows 10 PC you can remotely lock the computer using Microsoft online device manager. For this option to work please make sure of the following.

  • Your device is connected to the internet.
  • You have enabled find my device option from your Windows 10 settings
  • You have registered your Microsoft / Outlook / Hotmail account with your Windows 10.

Lock Windows 10 PC Remotely

To lock your computer using Microsoft online device manager follow these steps:

Open any internet browser and type in the following URL: http://account.microsoft.com/devices

It will ask you to enter your email address that is registered with your Microsoft Windows 10 and click next.

Now enter the password of your email address and then click sign in.

Once you’re signed in you can see the devices that are registered with your Microsoft account.

Now click on Show Details.

It will open up a new window where you will have multiple options. Click on Find my Device.

On the right side, it will show you Lock button, click on the button to start the Lock process.

It will show you the warning that this process will log out the current user and enable the Location tracking service and block unauthorized access to the computer. Click next to continue.

Then it will give you the option to add an additional warning message so that the person who is using your Windows 10 PC / Laptop can contact you, and then click Lock.

Now your computer has been locked and it cannot be accessed. You can also change your password to make sure your device is protected.
