Did you know you can measure objects using your iPhone? Well, if you didn’t, now you know! Your iPhone 12 comes with a specially curated app for measuring objects.

Whether you need to measure your couch, a painting, or any object, this feature will be handy.

Here’s how you can use this feature.

Measuring one dimension

First, launch the Measure App.

Then position the selected object and direct the camera at it.

Next, position the dot at the object’s edge and tap the circled plus ( + ) sign.

Then, drag the line upwards or downwards by moving your phone – your device will measure as you move.

When you get to the opposite end of the object, tap the plus sign again. Once you do this, the measurement will be displayed.

Measuring in multiple dimensions

First, open the Measure app, then put the object in a good and well-lighted position.

Then, ensure your camera is directed at the object, and the plus sign appears beneath it on your screen.

When you do this, a dotted line will appear along the object’s edges.

Next, tap the circled plus icon, and the measurements will be displayed.

That’s it!
