Remove the Weather Widget in Windows 11

Windows 11 Taskbar has several improvements, one of which is the Weather Widget that displays on the left corner of the Taskbar.

It displays the temperature, weather, and an image representing the location’s current temperature. While it is minimal at its most useful, it can be dismissed from the Taskbar if you do not like it. This article will guide you on removing the weather widget in Windows 11.

Weather Widget is more than just an icon. It extends to show the weather, stocks, news, and more when you click on it. All of this can be managed as per your preference. That said, now let’s explore how you can extract it:

Launch Windows Settings, select “Personalization” from the left sidebar, then on the right, scroll down a bit and click “Taskbar.”

Now, turn the toggle off next to the “Widgets.”

Once you’re done, the Widget icon will instantly be removed from the Taskbar. However, you can still access it by pressing Win + W.

Open the Run Prompt by pressing Win+R, type “Regedit” and press enter to launch the Registry Editor.

Once the Registry Editor opens, copy the following command and paste it into the Taskbar of the Registry Editor. Once you get there, right-click on the “Microsoft” folder and create a new key. Name it as “Dsh”.

Next, inside the “Dsh” folder, right-click and create a new DWORD (32-bit) key. Name it “AllowNewsAndInterests.”

Now, double the newly created key, and set the value as 0. Then click “Ok” to save the changes.

The Widget icon will instantly be removed from the Taskbar when you’re done.
