How to Uninstall Application on Windows 10

If you are using Windows 10 and don’t need an application anymore, you may want to uninstall it. There are several methods to do an uninstall. It depends upon the type of application. Here is the way to uninstall a program in Windows.

Uninstall an Application Using the Start Menu

If the application was installed from the Microsoft Store, you could uninstall it through the Windows Start menu. Open the Start menu and scroll to find the application’s icon, and right-click the app icon. In the pops up menu, select “Uninstall.”

If it is the first time you have uninstalled a program this way, it will warn you with a small pop-up dialog. Click “Uninstall” again. The app will be uninstalled, with no further action required from the user. You can download and re-install it later from the Microsoft Store.

Right-click an application that is not installed through the Microsoft Store and click “Uninstall” then the “Programs and Features” window will open. Locate the program in the list, click the program the selection, then click the “Uninstall” button.

An uninstall wizard window may appear. Follow the steps of the wizard until the program is uninstalled. Then you are free to close the “Programs and Features” window.

Uninstall an Application Using Settings

Most probably, the latest method to uninstall an application on Windows 10 is by using Settings. That is because you can see a list of all the installed programs on the system and easily select which one you need to uninstall.

Click the “Start” menu and select the gear (Settings) icon. (Alternatively, you can press Windows+I on your keyboard.)

In “Settings,” click “Apps.”

After that, you will see a list of all apps installed on your system. This list includes both apps installed through the Microsoft Store and those installed through other methods.

Locate the entry for the program you would like to uninstall and select it. Then click “Uninstall.”

If the app were installed from the Microsoft Store, it would uninstall instantly without any extra steps.

If the app is installed through other means, the additional dialog may pop-up. If so, click “Uninstall” again. After that, the uninstall wizard window will launch. Follow the wizard’s steps, and therefore the app will uninstall completely.

Uninstall an Application Using Control Panel

You can uninstall a non-Microsoft Store application through the Windows Control Panel. To do so, open the “Start” menu and type in “control,” then click the “Control Panel” icon.

From the “Programs,” click on the “Uninstall a program” option.

In the “Programs and Features” window, you will see the complete list of applications.

This list doesn’t include apps that are installed from the Microsoft Store. To uninstall such apps, you have to use the “Settings” window or right-click them and select “Uninstall” in the “Start” menu.

Locate the program that you need to uninstall. Click it and then select the “Uninstall” button.

An uninstall wizard will launch. Follow the wizard until you complete the uninstall process.

Since Microsoft considers Control Panel an old interface, it is good to practice uninstalling programs using the other methods above.
