How to Install Conky on Ubuntu 16.04

Conky is an open source system monitor tool for any versions system on Linux. one of its great features that It can monitor many system variables including CPU status, swap space, temperatures, disk storage, processes, network interfaces, battery status if you are using a laptop and a host of others and then preview the information on your desktop.

It can also display other reports such as time, calendars weather and the like. All these are available via wonderful themes with which Conky works.

With this tutorial, you will be able to learn how you can install Conky on your Ubuntu 16.04 Linux server step by step.

Install Conky

1. Update all your Linux packages, by running the below command in Terminal.

sudo apt-get update

2. Add Conky the repository file by running the below command in Terminal.

sudo apt-add-repository -y ppa:teejee2008/ppa

3. Reupdate all the system packages by the command below.

sudo apt-get update

4. Run the below command to start the installation process of Conky.

sudo apt-get install conky-manager

5. Type “Y” and hit Enter to confirm the installation.

6. Run “Conky-Manager” by searching for it on tools bar.

7. This how Conky will look like.

8. Test any of the widgets to monitor the performance, for example, I will test “Process Panel”.

9. You can also try on of the themes that came with Conky and you can download more themes.

10. Click on “Themes” tab.

11. Click on of the themes that will be displayed, I only have one them so I will test with it.
