How to Reset Windows XP Forgotten Password

You might have an old PC placed somewhere at your home and it’s time you can use it for any purpose like a drum box to set up CCTV or to do experiments.

If your old computer was running Windows XP and when you are trying to log in and you forgot the password, don’t worry. In this article, I will explain how we can bypass Windows XP password.

Reset Windows XP Password

When you try to login Windows XP you get an error message “Did you forget your password?”

Now you need to restart your computer by clicking Turn off computer at the login screen.

Once the computer restarted, frequently tap the F8 key. You will get the advanced startup menu. Select Safe Mode and press Enter to continue.

Select Microsoft Windows XP Professional and press the Enter key to boot the computer in safe mode.

On Windows login screen you will have an account Administrator click on it to log in with an Administrator account.

You will get a prompt message that Windows is running in safe mode. Click Yes to continue.

Once logged in, click on the start menu button and then click on Control Panel.

In Control Panel, click on User Accounts to open User Accounts settings. Click on the user whose password has forgotten.

In the new window, click on Remove the password option and then click on the Remove Password button.

Once done, restart the computer and once restarted, you will see that the user will automatically login to the computer.
