Fix Your Computer is low on memory. Save your files and close these programs

Windows 8.1 displays an error message: “Your computer is low on memory. Save your files and close these programs”. This article is for those who have had virtual memory errors. Increasing virtual memory might help improve windows performance.

The first thing you need to do is check your Check your processes in the Task Manager to make sure there isn’t any apps, programs or internet browser add-ons or extensions consuming all the memory juice. Just right click the taskbar select Task Manager, and then Processes tab. Make sure to click on More details on the bottom left if you don’t see the tab.

If you see a Process using a very high memory usage make sure to identify it whether is an app, program or a browser extension and uninstall accordingly.

If you keep getting this message, then try the following:

Right click on This PC desktop icon and click on Properties, Then Click on Advanced system settings.

In the System Properties window, select the Advanced tab, and under the Performance click on Settings.

on the performance Options window Select the Advanced tab again and on the Virtual Memory click “Change” button.

Look at the Recommended: space Under Total Paging file size for all drives. now Increase double the size of the recommended: Space on the Initial Size option, and set the Maximum Size to double of what you just put on the initial size and click Set button and exit.

Re-start your PC so changes can take effect.
