How to Share Wireless Internet Over Ethernet on Windows 10

By sharing the Ethernet based internet connection (wired connection to internet) over the WiFi hotspot, you will be allowing multiple users/devices to connect to the network/internet without deploying a wireless router. It’s a useful feature introduced in Windows 10.

To share your Ethernet internet connection, follow the following steps.

Click on start menu and then click on the settings icon on the start menu.

In the settings window, click on Network and Internet icon.

Now on the left side option, click on Mobile Hotspot.

Once click, it will show hotspot settings on the right side. Make sure that Share my internet connection with other devices is turned ON.

On the same right-hand side windows under the option of share my internet connection with other devices, there is one option share my internet from. It will show a drop-down list to select which network you want to share with other people or devices that need access to the internet.

Now the next option is to configure the wireless network name and password. We can change this information by clicking the edit button.

When you click on edit button, it will show up a pop up to configure your network name and password of your choice.

There is an option for Bluetooth paired devices to turn on mobile hotspot. If those devices are already paired than this feature can be used without any issue or error.

As soon as you connect the Ethernet cable to the laptop or PC, Windows 10 operating system automatically detects it. it will start broadcasting the Wi-Fi hotspot we have just created.

We can only connect up to eight wireless devices with laptop based created a hotspot. As a safety option, do not enable the option remote
