Another security feature that was introduced to us in the Windows Creator Update version 1703 in April 2017 is Dynamic Lock. What this feature does is that it detects when you walk away from your computer and locks it automatically in about 30 seconds.
This new feature utilizes a paired Bluetooth connection. You need a mobile paired with your computer Bluetooth. You cannot use this feature on a computer without Bluetooth.
When you walk away and your phone gets out of range the computer will automatically lock itself. It is one of the most interesting features that we came across. However, this feature does lock your computer when you are out of range but it does not unlock it automatically.
What is Dynamic Lock and How to Configure it in Windows 10
So, you have to manually unlock your device by entering your password. If you don’t have an embedded Bluetooth you can get an external Bluetooth device.
This feature is especially useful for people who want to maintain privacy in their computers. To enable Dynamic lock first make sure that both your mobile phone and computer have a working Bluetooth. Now to configure dynamic lock follow these steps.
First Turn on Bluetooth in your Mobile Device.
Now in your computer click on the Start menu or Search button on the bottom left corner of your screen. Type Bluetooth and Other Devices and open the Bluetooth and other devices settings.
Now make sure that your Bluetooth is On and Select Add Bluetooth or Other Device
Select the Bluetooth option
Now select your mobile device and click connect
Once this connection is established open start menu or search button again and type Dynamic Lock and open it
Scroll down to the Dynamic lock option and select the “Allow Windows to automatically Lock device when you are away” option.
Now when you will walk away from your computer with your phone you Dynamic lock will automatically lock your PC in about 30 seconds.
