How to Turn On Spatial Sound – Windows 10

Spatial sound is basically 3D sounds, Windows 10 Creators Update have added spatial sound. When Spatial Sound is enabled, it seems as the music is playing around you rather than through your earbuds.

The true spatial sound combines three things; audio composed to deliver a spatial listening experience, spatial sound configured headphones or speakers and software to support it. Creators Update gives you the option to enable Spatial Sound in Windows 10.

Enable Spatial Sound in Windows 10

Open sound settings Window, you can get to it from the Control Panel or a bit easier way to do it from the System Tray. Right-click on speaker icon from the System Tray and select ‘Sounds’ from the context menu.

The sound Settings window will open, select the ‘Playback’ tab. This tab lists all speakers/headphones attached to your device. Click the headphones or speaker you would like to enable spatial sound and click the ‘Properties’ button at the bottom right or double-click the speaker.

This will open the speaker’s properties window you have to select the last tab that the Creators Update has added ‘Spatial Sound’

The Spatial Sound tab has only one section of ‘Spatial sound format’. From the drop-down menu under the section, it has three options for you to choose from which are; None, Windows Sonic for headphones, and Dolby Atmos for Headphone.

Select the ‘Windows Sonic for headphones’ option to enable spatial sound for headphones. This will only work on headphones you connect. If you select Dolby Atmos for headphones you will enable spatial sound in Windows 10 for your home theater.

This opens the Windows Store app and you have to install the Dolby Access app for your home theater.
