FIX: There was a Problem Sending the Command to the Program
When you attempt to open a file, an error message appears on your screen, preventing you from accessing the file. If you encounter this problem, this tutorial will teach you how to work around it.
Check your compatibility tab
Open your File Explorer and navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office16
Locate WINWORD.exe and right-click on it.
Choose Properties.
Click on the Compatibility Tab and unselect all the checkboxes.
Click on Apply and OK to save your changes.
Change other Word settings
Open any Word file and go to File tab,
Click on Options at the bottom left.
Select Trust Center and go to Trust Center Settings.
On the Macro Settings tab, select Trust access to the VBA project object model.
Click OK to save your changes.
Repair Microsoft Office
Open Control Panel and go to Programs.
Click on Programs and Features.
Look for Microsoft Office and right-click on it.
Select Change.
Choose Quick Repair or Online Repair and click on Repair.
Follow on-screen instructions when prompted.
Disable Add-ins
Open any Word file and go to File tab.
Click on Options and select Add-ins.
Select COM Add-ins from the Manage.
Click on Go.
Unselect the checkboxes available.
Click on OK and restart your Word app.
NOTE: If you have more than 1 add-in, unselect them one at a time and restart your Word app every time. This way, you will be able to see which add-in is causing the error.
