Disable Cortana from Auto Starting with Windows 10

Ever since the launch of Cortana, the Windows 10 digital assistant has gone through some major changes. It was once an integral part of the Windows Operating System, but now it has become a standalone Windows store application. Its startup activities can be organized similarly as users manage startup applications in Windows 10.

This tutorial will show you how to enable/disable Cortana from starting with Windows 10 (2004 and later additions).

When you sign in to Cortana with your Microsoft account, you can synchronize your data between all your devices, keep track of your interests, organize your favorite places, or receive notifications from your other devices.

Disable Cortana from Auto Starting

If you have enabled the ‘Cortana’ app, and want to disable it from starting every time you start the Windows, do the following.

Open the Windows Settings by using the keyboard shortcut “Win+I”.

In the Settings, go to the “Apps”.

In the Apps Setting window, choose the Startup option.

Locate Cortana and Turn off the toggle option.

You can also disable Cortana through Apps & features settings as well as from Task Manager. To Disable Cortana through Apps & Features Settings, go to the ‘Settings’ then to ‘Apps’ and choose the ‘Apps & features’ option.

Now, locate the Cortana app.

Click the Cortana app once. Now, Click on the ‘Advanced options’ link.

Scroll down and locate the ‘Runs at log-in’ option. Turn off the toggle switch.

To disable Cortana via Task Manager, launch Windows 10 Task Manager. (Right-click on the taskbar and select Task Manager).

Click the ‘Startup’ tab.

Locate Cortana, right-click, and select the ‘Disabled’ option.

Thus, through these simple methods, you can disable Cortana from starting with the start of Windows 10.
