Fix: You are not authorized to access this site error while opening MS Word

Error in Office 365 This site is not accessible to you because you are not allowed. When attempting to use Outlook on the web or other Office 365 services, this message may appear.

This guide will show you how to resolve the problem.

Run Office as Admin

Type the Microsoft application that is having the error on the Windows search bar.

Right-click on the program and select Run as Administrator.

If a confirmation pop-up will appear, click Yes.

Update data source settings

If you’ve recently changed your User Password or User Account settings. Make any necessary changes to your data source settings.

Log out all of your accounts in Office 365.

On your keyboard, press Win + R to open run dialog box.

Then type %appdata% and click OK.

On the dialog box that appears, navigate and open the Microsoft folder.

Then locate the problematic Office program folder and rename the folder as “oldWord

Restart MS Word.

Repair Microsoft Office Suite

Repair MS Excel

Open Control Panel.

Go to Programs and Features.

Look for Microsoft Office app and right-click on it.

Select Change and choose Quick Repair.

Allow the repair process to finish and restart your MS Excel.
