Reboot your system

Sometimes, all you have to do to fix a problem is restart your computer. Many people have said that they sometimes couldn’t open the start menu, but when they restart their computer, everything works fine.

But if restarting your computer didn’t fix the problem, try one of the following.

Command Prompt

Type cmd in your Windows search bar and select Run as administrator.

In Command Prompt, type del followed by the file path of the folder you want to delete.

Press Enter.

Change the Ownership of the file/folder

Right-click on the file you want to delete and choose Properties.

Under the Security tab, click the Advanced button.

Click on the Change option next to the name of the owner. In some cases, SYSTEM is listed as the owner, and in some, it is TrustedInstaller.

Enter the username you want to become the file owner and click the Check Names button.

Click the OK button.

Check the box for Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.

Click the Apply button.

Restart your PC.

Right-click the file again, and select Properties>Security>Advanced.

Check the box for Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object.

Click Apply.

Under Security tab, click Edit.

Check Full Control and press Apply.

Click OK.

Try to delete the file/folder again.

Check your antivirus

Antivirus software is important, and many of them have features that help keep your files safe. With this feature, bad programs and people won’t be able to delete your files.

Even though this is a valid feature, it can also prevent you from deleting a folder on Windows 10 even if you are an administrator.

Check your antivirus settings to see if this feature is turned on. This will fix the problem. If so, turn it off for the files you want to get rid of and see if that fixes the problem.

Clean Boot or Safe Mode

Type System Configuration in the Windows search bar and select Run as administrator.

Go to the Services tab.

Select Hide all Microsoft services and then click Disable all.

After that, go to the Startup tab and click on Open Task Manager.

Close Task Manager then click on Apply and OK on the System Configuration.

Restart your PC when it prompts you to do so.

Try deleting your folder/file again.
