How to Block Automatic Driver Updates – Windows 10

Windows 10 is the most advanced version of the Windows Operating System. This OS has an automatic update system which is very handy and efficient in updating windows files as well as the hardware drivers.

Drivers update with the help of Windows Update center is usually safe and bugs free but in some cases the driver update cause issues with the system configuration.

This article is based on stopping the automatic driver’s updates in Windows 10. This process will permanently block the automatic driver’s update in Windows 10. You will then have to update the drivers manually. Follow the following steps to block the automatic driver’s updates.

Right click on the start menu and then click on the Settings options.

A new window will open, click on the System info on the right side of the opened window.

This will take you to the system settings. Click on the Advanced System Settings on the left side.

In the System Properties window, click on the Hardware on the top.

In hardware options, there will be two options displaying on the screen. Click on the Device installation Settings to stop the automatic drivers update in Windows 10.

It is noticeable that the default selection in device installation settings is Yes (recommended). This is responsible for updating the drivers in windows 10. Click on No and save the changes by clicking on the Save Changes below.

To save the settings made in the whole process, it is necessary to restart the system. Restart your system, automatic driver updates will be blocked now. In the future, the drivers can be updated manually using the device manager.
