How to Disable Edge on Windows 11
Windows 11 comes with Microsoft Edge as the default browser, but many users don’t like it. Even though it has been changed a lot, some people are still not willing to use it.
There are several reasons for this, but the main one is that people are used to their favorite web browser and won’t change it.
Because of this, some of them decided to do something drastic and turn off Edge in Windows 11. This guide will help you if you’re tired of Microsoft Edge and want to do the same thing.
Change file associations
Press Win + I to open Settings.
Navigate to Apps and select Default apps.
Search for Edge and click on it.
Click on the first file type.
Select your desired broswer when prompted and click OK.
Repeat this step until all instances of Microsoft Edge have been changed.
Rename the Microsoft Edge installation directory
Open File Explorer.
Go to the following directory
C:\Windows\SystemApps
Locate Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe
Right-click on it and Rename it to DISABLED_Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe
If you want to undo the changes you made by following the steps above, just rename the directory back to what it was called before.
