How to Enable Sandbox In Windows 10

Windows Sandbox is the most recent feature of Windows 10 that is only available in the 1903 version of Windows 10 Pro or Windows 10 Enterprise. It is a virtual window to test any application before installing the application in the main system.

Just copy the .exe file of the application to the Sandbox and install the application. After completely testing the application, close the Windows Sandbox and everything gets deleted from the sandbox.

This article is based on the process of enabling the Windows Sandbox in Windows 10, version 1903. Let’s start the process with the following steps.

NOTE: If your Windows 10 is not updated to 1903 version, update your OS to the recent release from Updates & Security option in Windows Settings.

Enable Sandbox In Windows 10 1903

Click on the Search icon in Windows 10 and search for Command Prompt. Open the command prompt.

Type systeminfo.exe to see if Hypervisor is supported and installed.

Depending on the processing speed of your system, the command prompt will gather the complete system information. When the list appears on the screen, scroll down for Hyper-V Requirements. If it is detected, your system is ready to run Windows Sandbox.

NOTE: If the Hyper-V Requirements are not detected, restart your system and press the boot menu key to enter into the boot menu. Enable the Virtualization option under Hyper-V category.

Navigate to the search icon on the taskbar, type Turn Windows features on or off. Open the control panel option.

A list of Windows 10 features is open on the desktop. Scroll down the list and check Windows Sandbox.

Windows Features will search for the file of Windows Sandbox.

After the complete search, Windows 10 will apply the changes made in your system.

Windows Sandbox is active now. Click on the Restart no button at the bottom right of the Windows Features window to save the changes made by the Windows 10.

Click on the search icon of Windows 10 in the taskbar again. Search for Windows Sandbox application. Run the Sandbox application by clicking on it.

Sandbox is now running in your system. Copy the executable file of an application from the main system to the Sandbox window to check the application.
