How to Fix Microphone Not Showing up in Device List

Although it might be unpleasant, users who experience the internal microphone has vanished from the device list problem need not panic. There are workable solutions to this.

Your recording device may first be deactivated or hidden from the device list, which would explain why it isn’t showing up.

A Microsoft forum member recently reported that his built-in microphone driver was vanished. His microphone wasn’t shown in Device Manager when he reached for it. The good news is that this issue has a remedy, which you may discover in this post.

Re-enable your microphone from Control Panel

SearchΒ Control Panel in your Windows search bar and selectΒ Open.

Go toΒ All Control Panel Item and select Sound.

Go to theΒ RecordingΒ tab.

Right-click anywhere on the window and select Show Disabled Devices.

You should be able to re-enable your built-in microphone when it appears.

Reinstall microphone drivers

Search for Device Manager on your Windows search bar and selectΒ Open.

FindΒ Audio inputs and outputs and click on the arrow to show more options.

Right-click on Microphone (Realtek(R) Audio)Β and selectΒ Uninstall device.

Restart your device and re-install your drivers by downloading it from the manufacturer’s website.
