Enable / Disable Pick Up Where I Left Off Option Windows 10

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has added some of a new feature, “Pick up where I left off”. It will only work if you have Cortana (a window 10 virtual assistant) set up. When you will restart your computer, most of the apps that you had open in your last log on session will reopen for you.

This includes your browser and Microsoft Office Files. Applications like TV app and The Movies app don’t comply to this feature.
If you have already setup Cortana after the windows update it will automatically start working for you. If this is not the case, then open Cortana by clicking the option on the taskbar.

Click on Notebook.

Now click on option “ Pick up where I left Off”.

Now it will open up an option for the settings of Pick up where I left Off. Toggle from right to left to disable the option or if already disabled, toggle from left to right. This will enable the Pick up where I left off feature for your computer.

If you already have Cortana enabled on your computer but you don’t see this option, open the Settings app. Then go to Cortana and in the Talk to Cortana tab, select “English (United States)” from the drop down menu under Cortana Language.

Restart your system and the option Pick up where I left off should appear. Click on it, turn the feature on, and then click Save button at the bottom.
Now next time you will restart your computer, applications you had previously open will open automatically.

This feature works when you restart your computer, or when an application installation and/or removal requires the computer to restart.
