How To Create a Local Account Without Password – Windows 10

Sometimes we create passwords and we think that we would never forget them. However, actually, after a week or two, we end up forgetting the password and go through the process of recreating a password. Without a password, it becomes difficult to assess your account.

However, in many cases, you can recover/reset the password by using the “Forgot Password” option. It is always recommended to have a password-protected account to protect your personal and sensitive information.

However, there are cases when we do not want to have an account with a password such as when you are the only user of your laptop/PC or you want to create a family account that is accessible to everyone in your family, etc.

In Windows 10, it is possible to make a local user account without a password. You must have a Microsoft account, and only then, Windows 10 will allow you to create a local account without a password. Moreover, you can also remove the password from your existing account.

So follow the below steps to know how to create a local user account without a password in Windows 10.

Open Windows Settings by using the shortcut key “Win+I”

In the Settings window, open Accounts.

Now click the “Family and other users” Tab.

In the “Other users” portion, follow the “Add someone else to this PC” link. It will open the account creation wizard.

Follow “I do not have this person’s login information”.

Now click the “Add a user without a Microsoft account” link.

Now, enter the user name for the account, leave the password fields empty, and click the next button to complete the account creation without a password.

Note that, it is not recommended, to create a user without a password to ensure the safety of your personal information and data.
