Fix Please Wait While Windows Configures when opening MS Office

Some MS Office users can’t get rid of a configuration dialog box that pops up every time they open one of the suite’s programs.

The window pop up says Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office.

Some Microsoft Office users can still open the software, but the configuration window keeps popping up every time they do. Because of this, the apps don’t start up very quickly.

Several versions of Office are affected by this error in the configuration dialog box. Here’s how to get rid of that configuration window if it keeps popping up every time you start MS Office.

Repair Microsoft Office

Select the Windows Search Option

Press Win + R to open Run dialog.

Type appwiz.cpl and press Enter.

Click Turn Windows features on or off.

Select the Windows Search option if it’s not currently checked.

Press the OK button.

Switch Off MS Office Add-ins

Open any MS Office app.

Go to File tab and select Options.

Click on Add-ins.

Select COM Add-ins from the drop-down menu and press Go.

Deselect all the selected add-ins listed.

Press the OK.

Close and reopen Microsoft Office.
