Attempt Opening Other Word Documents

To see whether you can open other Word documents on your computer, try opening them.

If other documents on the system won’t open, it’s safe to assume your document isn’t corrupted; rather, the issue is with the MS Word program.

Save Document in Different File Format

Try saving the Word file in a different file type, such as TXT (ASCII Text Format) or RTF (Rich Text Format), since this may address the problem and allow the file to function correctly again.

After saving the file in the new format, open it and save it as a DOC or DOCX document.

Use the ‘Open and Repair’ Feature

Click on the File and select Open.

Browse the location and folder where the Excel file is stored in the window that displays.

Select the Excel file you wish to open and fix from the ‘Open’ window.

Select Open and Repair from the drop-down button beside Open.
