How to Change Ruler Measurement in MS Word 2016

Microsoft is a worldwide brand and its applications are being used globally for many tasks. Microsoft Office comprises of the applications that are being used by individuals and organizations for their many tasks. MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint are the most commonly used applications of MS Office suite.

This article is about changing the Ruler Dimensions in MS Word file as per your needs. MS Word is extensively used for writing tasks.

There are many technicalities involved including the one related to the settings of Ruler Dimensions of the page. In MS Office, a line with numeric measurements on the top and left side of the window is called a ruler. It is used to set page margins.

The dimensions of a ruler can be changed by following the steps below.

Change Ruler Measurement in MS Word 2016

Click on Start button and type Word to open MS Word.

The ruler is active by default, but you can also make it visible by clicking on View in the top ribbon and check for Ruler.

By default, the ruler is set in inches. You can change its measurement by clicking File on the top left and select Options.

A Word Options window will open. Click on Advanced option in the left panel of the word options window and search for Display options on the right side.

All the Word Options are in the same window. You have to scroll down and look for Display options.

You are now seeing Display options. To change ruler settings there is a row of Show measurements in units of and click on the Inches tab. All the dimensions would be in front of you as Inches, Centimeters, Millimeters, Points, and Picas. Choose the desired dimension for the ruler and click OK in the bottom left.

The settings will be saved only when you click OK after selecting a specific measurement.

It’s all done. You can see the change in your Ruler Dimensions on the Home page.
